When displaying a dashboard all gadgets are loaded with the up to date result.
In order filter the displayed result, click the 
icon to open the search query definition and enter the criteria that will be added to all gadget's queries. Click the search to activate the filter:
The filtered result is loaded:
Click the 
icon to remove the filter back to the default display.
