Apps/Dashboards Permissions

Apps and Dashboards has no specific permissions that should be configured. The permissions, per user, are inherited from the policy permissions and the Folders and Logs permissions.

  1. In the security policy if a user not allowed to view/edit Apps then the apps will not be displayed for that user.

  2. If a user is allowed to view/edit Apps, then XpoLog will automatically display only Apps which are configured to run on Folders and Logs that the user is allowed to view.
In case an App/Dashboard is running on Folders and Logs that user is not allowed to view then these Apps/Dashboards will not be displayed to the user.

Important: each App/Dashboard stores the user that created it as its "owner". The App/Dashboard use this owner to run and generate the results in the backend, therefore it is assumed that, on creation, the owner user has the required permissions to generate results.

An owner of an App/Dashboard cannot be modified and therefore if the owner user permissions are changed (I.E. the user may not be able to view some of the App/Dashboard logs) then it should be considered that the generation of the App/Dashboard may not take place in full. Therefore, it is required to make sure that the owner user always has the required permissions to generate results in by the backend engines.
